E-Books are a great resource for homeschool families. Here are a few things that make E-Books a great
addition to your homeschool.
- E-Books are easy to download, and you get access to the information you need right away.
Storage is never a problem. They don’t take up any room space in your house!
- You can print just the pages you need. You can even print multiple pages of worksheets and activities, if you need one for each of your children.
- They are portable. You can carry a library of books with you anywhere you go on a laptop, external hard drive, or thumb drive.
- Many E-Books include links to lots of great websites on the topic of the E-Book. You are not limited just to the information in the E-Book.
- E-Books can be interactive and contain audio, video and animations, which adds a whole new dimension to learning.

Magazines can be a wonderful learning resource for kids whether you are looking to use them in the classroom, either conventional or homeschool, or just a way to give your kids a great insight into the world around us.
Wonder Time is a great magazine for parents of babies and toddlers. Children this age have a natural curiosity about the world around them and this magazine will give you an insight on how to inspire your children through their eyes.

Kids Avenue Magazine: The International Magazine for Kids. Ages 8-14. Kids Avenue is written to connect kids to their world by exploring cultures, stories and articles from different places around the globe. It is designed to be used in the home or at schools. I like to call Kids Avenue a “teachable” magazine for these reasons:
1. It promotes reading and vocabulary development.
2. It is filled with games, activities, articles and stories that may be expanded upon and used for teaching.
Reading through Kids Avenue not only increases vocabulary, but it also creates an easy way to open up a discussion with your child on interesting topics.
The Old Schoolhouse Magazine : A must have magazine for anyone who is considering homeschooling their children.
Zoobooks, Ranger Rick, Discover Kids, to name a few, are some more great magazines to use as a learning resource for kids.

Finding good educational programs for preschoolers can be a challenge, because at this age they are easily distracted, so you want to find programs that have lessons that are not too long in length and that hold their interest. A preschoolers attention span is very short. Most of a preschoolers learning is for preparation for Kindergarten and to stimulate their interests in the world around them. To push too much at this age, can cause frustration.
Take a look at an educational program for preschoolers that I recently found called Lots to Learn. This program runs on DVD and engages the use of puppets to teach a variety of learning including Nature, In My House, Animals and Music. You can check them out by clicking the banner below:

Learning begins as soon as we are born. Babies have 100,000,000,000 brain cells. These cells need to make connections in order to be able to process information. The more cells that connect, the more information the brain can store. Some doctors are convinced that by stimulating a baby’s brain cells early on, your child will be able to grasp what is being taught to him in school better and will make learning easier. This is why it is important to stimulate a baby’s brain cells by introducing language, along with physical challenges, such as rolling a ball. The sooner we begin to stimulate the brain cells, the better. Some people claim this should start in the womb. For more on this see BabyPlus Prenatal Education System.
Talk to your baby often. Explain what you are doing in the kitchen while making dinner. “I am going to cut these carrots and then put them in the pot. Then I will cook them on the stove.” or while giving baby a bath. “Now I am going to wash your hair. First I put some soap on my hands and then I rub it in your hair.” Make it a habit to talk to your baby whenever you get a chance. When you are home pick up objects and name them. Talk while driving a car about all the things you see. This may seem strange at first talking to a little baby who is just lying there with a blank expression on their face. But don’t be fooled. There is alot going on in that little brain. Everything you say gets processed and leads to another connection.

How do we keep o
ur kids interested in education, so that they don’t become bored and overwelmed? There is a push today to teach our children alot more information than what was taught years ago. This can cause burnout and frustration. We need to find programs that will let our children learn, but are fun at the same time, so that they don’t even realize that they are learning. Whether you are a parent or teacher, homeschooling or just looking for a great program to get your kids interested in education, I have found programs that I think are great learning resources for kids and fun.
Some children can be taught easily, but others need programs that will spark their interests and creativity. I hope you find some wonderful learning resources for kids and can make an educated decision when purchasing these programs.
